GalaxyS5 / February 15, 2014

Don’t feel like waiting a couple more weeks for Samsung to unveil the Galaxy S5 at the Unpacked 5 event? Well, you’re in luck. We have a leaked rendering of what appears to be the Samsung Galaxy S5 along side the earlier S3 and S4 models. There’s no official confirmation by Samsung regarding the authenticity of the rendering, but tech analysts are claiming it’s the real deal. Check out the leaked rendering of the Samsung Galaxy S5 below to generate your own opinion. If it’s a fake, it’s certainly a good one. The rendering shows the Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 and S5 standing next to each other. MovePlayer.net published the rendering on their website last week. While most Americans are unfamiliar with the Korean website, Move Player actually has a pretty solid track record of releasing accurate information about Samsung and their upcoming devices. They’ve hit the nail on the head in some of their previous leaks and rumors, including details about the Samsung Galaxy S4. Although they didn’t cite a source for the rendering, there’s strong track record leaves many people to believe that Move Player has published an authentic rendering of the upcoming Galaxy S5. As you can…

Samsung Galaxy S5 To Feature ‘TouchWiz’ User Interface
GalaxyS5 / February 14, 2014

If you read Samsung’s official blog as much as us, you may have noticed a new graphic for the company’s upcoming Unpacked 5 event (see image to the right). Although it contains the same date, location and url as the previous Unpacked 5 event promo, the new set of icons displayed is drawing some serious attention. Update: Samsung has since taken down the Unpacked 5 event promo from their blog. The good news, however, is that WE STILL HAVE IT.  Samsung’s TouchWiz User Interface The Unpacked 5 event promo recently published on Samsung’s official blog suggests that the upcoming Galaxy S5 will feature an updated version of the company’s TouchWiz user interface. If you’ve owned previous versions of the Samsung Galaxy (S2, S3 or S4), you’re probably familiar with TouchWiz. Designed and developed exclusively by Samsung, it’s their standard UI for smartphones and tablet computers. But not everyone has been favored Samsung’s TouchWiz interface. Critics claim it’s bloated, difficult to use, and contains “unnecessarily” oversized icons. You don’t have to search hard to find dozens of complaints posted online from users who dislike previous TouchWiz. What’s New With TouchWiz? Based on the two photos we have available, it’s clear that…

GalaxyS5 , Price / February 13, 2014

With the release of Samsung’s next flagship smartphone just weeks away, tech-savvy consumers from across the world are eagerly anticipating its arrival. We’ve covered some pretty interesting rumors regarding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5, including its processor, camera, RAM and more. One thing that we haven’t talked much about, however, is the price. While we still don’t know how much U.S. carriers plan to sell it for, a new chart published by idealo suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S5’s price will drop 24% within the first 3 months of its release. What’s The Deal With The ‘Expected’ Samsung Galaxy S5 Price Drop? The e-commerce price comparison company idealo published a chart on their website which shows the pricing trends of previous Samsung Galaxy models. Among other things, it reveals a common trends where the device lost roughly a quarter of its original value within the first 3 months of its release. The exact price difference varies depending on the particular model, but it’s pretty clear that all of Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones dropped a significant amount after just 3 months. The idealo report states the following: “Based on this data, we can predict that after just 3 months, the new Galaxy…

GalaxyS5 , smart phones / February 7, 2014

Get ready, because the official unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is just a few weeks away! In case you haven’t heard, Samsung’s upcoming flagship smarthpone, the Galaxy S5, will be launched the company’s Unpacked 5 event on February 24th in Barcelona, Spain (yes, this February). Several journalists and publication agencies have reinforced this rumor, but the real evidence suggesting an imminent Galaxy S5 release comes from Samsung’s own invitations they sent out for the Unpacked 5 event (see invitation below). And some of you may remember when, and how, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S5 — also at the Unpacked event. Samsung hasn’t officially stated whether or not they plan to unveil the Galaxy S5 at the Unpacked 5 event, but it’s pretty much the only likely scenario. After all, the Unpacked “Five” event would offer the perfect stage for Samsung to display the Galaxy S “Five.” Galaxy S5 Hardware Specs Assuming Samsung unveils the Galaxy S5 at the Unpacked 5 event, we’ll finally get a chance to see the official hardware specs of this next-gen smartphone. There’s been numerous leaked reports and details regarding the Galaxy S5’s hardware, but none of which have been confirmed by Samsung officials. Since…

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Apple iPhone 6: Battle of The Smartphones
Comparison , GalaxyS5 , smart phones / February 6, 2014

2014 is going to be a major year for the smartphone market, as both Samsung and Apple prepare to release their flagship devices. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is rumored to be unveiled at the Unpacked Event on February 24th, while the Apple iPhone 5 is rumored for release later this summer. While you can rest assured that both of these smartphones are going to raise the bar for other manufacturers to follow, this doesn’t necessarily mean they are equal. Let me first start off by noting the obvious difference between the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Apple iPhone 6: operating system. While people will constantly argue over which operating system is the “best,” Android is considered a more versatile and flexible platform. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Apple iOS is a poor choice, but Android doesn’t come with all of the restrictions commonly associated with Apple products. Earlier this month, top South Korean brokerage KDB Daewoo Securities recently sent a note to one of its clients comparing the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Apple iPhone 6. The website oled-display.net then picked up the note — which includes an image (see below) — and published it on their website. This…

Samsung Unveiling The Galaxy S5 In Late February
GalaxyS5 , smart phones / February 4, 2014

There’s a good chance we’ll see Samsung official pull the curtains and unveil their next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, by the end of the month. Less than 24 hours ago, Samsung posted details of the company’s Upacked 5 event, which takes place at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain on February 24th. Is it just a coincident that a 5 is in the event’s name? Samsung’s Unpacked 5 Event The official Samsung blog stated the following: “At previous Samsung Unpacked events, we’ve shown you the ‘The Next Big Thing.’ On March 2013, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S4, on September 2013, Galaxy Note 3 and Gear. These events were also live-streamed on official Samsung channels. Live blogging was also available on Samsung Tomorrow.” Last year, Samsung used the Unpacked event to unveil the Galaxy S4, so it only makes sense for them to replicate their formula for success with the Galaxy S5.The Galaxy S4 remains one of the hottest — if not the hottest — smartphone currently on the market. It’s loaded with features, a fast processor, a massive 13-megapixel camera and much more. However, I think it’s safe to say that Samsung will trump this device with their upcoming…

GalaxyS5 / January 31, 2014

Are you worried that Samsung won’t release the Galaxy S5 for your call carrier? A new rumor courtesy of SamMobile.com suggests that the South Korean company will release their upcoming flagship smartphone on the nation’s top four cell carriers: Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint, offering consumers a greater amount of freedom over choosing their coverage and plans. What We Know About The Galaxy S5’s Carrier Options Unfortunately, we’re left to speculate over which U.S. carriers will offer the Samsung Galaxy S5. Even with a release just a couple months away (or sooner), Samsung remains quite on the hardware, software and carrier speces of their upcoming flagship smartphone. The good news is that some rather “interesting” evidence has sprung up, suggesting that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will in fact be available for Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. Earlier this week, be covered a story which involved a photo that was reportedly taken using the Samsung Galaxy S5’s rear-facing camera. The picture isn’t clear or detailed by any means, but it contained some interesting EXIF data which hinted towards a 16-megapixel camera. This is a huge news for people like myself who use their smartphone camera on a daily basis….

Will The Samsung Galaxy S5 Feature a 16-Megapixel Camera?

With an expected launch date less than 2 months away, Samsung remains quite regarding their upcoming Galaxy S5’s hardware specs. This has opened the floodgates to dozens of rumors and reportedly “leaked” information, which we frequently discuss here at galaxy5us.com. While we’ve heard plenty of rumors about the Galaxy S5’s processor, battery, metal and plastic shell variations, etc., there hasn’t been much talk about its camera — until now. Earlier this week, a picture emerged from a Flipboard test account which suggests the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 will sport a massive 16-megapixel rear-facing camera. Brace yourself for this Picasso-esque photo… because here it is! Yes, this is the actual photo posted by the Flipboard user @123fliptest. It probably won’t win any awards for its exceptional quality, but the most intriguing information lies in its exchangeable image file format (or what’s more commonly referred to as EXIF). As some of you may already know, EXIF is hidden data found in image files, and it may include things like shutter speed, exposure compensation, metering system, whether or not flash was used, ISO number, date, time, auxiliary lens and resolution. According to reports, the benchmark tests using this photo revealed a 16-megapixel camera,…

This is exciting news for anyone who’s still holding out for a Samsung Galaxy S5 rather than purchasing the current S4 model. Can We Trust The Galaxy Gear 2 Rumor? Unfortunately, there’s no easy answer to this question. Sometimes the rumors are right, while other times they…
