Will The Galaxy S6 Have Lower Sub-Par Specs?
Galaxy S6 , smart phones / December 22, 2014

With 2015 right around the corner, many analysts are predicting a new Galaxy S6 smartphone is in the works. Samsung typically releases a new flagship device about once every year, meaning we’ll probably see one within the next 6 months. However, rumors suggest that it may have lower specs than the current Galaxy S5. According to SamMobile, the upcoming Galaxy S6 will feature a new and improved qHD display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution, 15.9-megapixel camera, octa-core 64-bit processor (unknown origin), 3GB RAM, and Android 5.0 Lollipop. These specs certainly sound nice, but other sources claim this information is false. An AnTuTu benchmark posted on the Chinese website CNMO reveals the Galaxy S6 with a 5.5-inch display at 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution, powered by Exynos 7420 processor, and Android 5.0 Lollipop. Assuming the latter is true, fans could be disappointed by the Galaxy S6’s marginally improved specs. The Galaxy S5 was a monumental improvement from the S4, featuring a superior processor, better camera, and most importantly IP6/7 dust and water resistant technology. These powerhouse combination ultimately resulted in one of the best selling smartphones of all times, even if Samsung overshot its sales expectations by producing too many…

Galaxy S5 Mini a Step In The Wrong Direction For Samsung?
GalaxyS5 , smart phones / October 29, 2014

Samsung is known for releasing multiple versions, or variants, of its flagship smartphone. The Galaxy S5 Mini is one such variant that features a smaller body and slimmed-down specs. But many people are criticizing Samsung for its uninspired approach to the Galaxy S5 Mini. If you’re thinking about ordering this device, you should read the following and then make your decision. Let’s first talk about the Galaxy S5 Mini’s body, as this is typically a major selling point among consumers. The original Galaxy S5 features a 5.1″ Super AMOLED display with 432 ppi pixel density, whereas the Galaxy S5 Mini is just slightly smaller at 4.5″ with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and 326 ppi pixel density. So even though it’s technically smaller, the Galaxy S5 Mini is just slightly smaller than the original. This may deter some people from buying it, as many smartphone users prefer smaller displays. Another notable difference between the two devices is the construction. The Galaxy S5 is manufactured with a soft, almost rubber-like plastic that’s comfortable to hold and use. Unfortunately, Samsung opted for a harder form of plastic with the Galaxy S5 Mini. This material looks and feels cheap, which is something that…

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Sony Xperia Z3
Comparison , GalaxyS5 , smart phones / October 13, 2014

It’s been several months now since Samsung launched its Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone. Since that time, it’s won numerous awards and accolades for its cutting-edge hardware and software. With Sony gearing up to release its Xperia Z3 flagship smartphone in the upcoming months, however, some people are wondering if it will trump the Galaxy S5. In this post, we’re going to take a closer look at these two high-end smartphones. Upon viewing the Galaxy S5 and Xperia Z3 for the first time, you’ll notice these two devices look strikingly similar. Samsung’s flagship smartphone features a 1920 x 1080 pixel 5.1″ display, while Sony’s flagship smartphone features a  1920 x 1080 pixel 5.2″ display. Technically, the Xperia Z3 is slightly larger, but a tenth of an inch is a nominal difference that most users won’t notice. With that said, The Galaxy S5 features a colorful Super AMOLED display, whereas Sony opted to use a IPS LCD display in its smartphone. Both the Galaxy S5 and Xperia Z3 use the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz, as well as the same GPU. There’s no clear winner between the two in terms of processing power, as both devices offer some…

Comparison , GalaxyS5 , smart phones / June 3, 2014

Watch out Samsung, Life’s Good (LG) recently unveiled a new version of its flagship smartphone, the “G” series, which is causing some commotion in the mobile industry. The new LG G3 is a high-end smartphone that rivals leading mobile brands like HTC, Apple and the Google Nexus series. But how does it compare to the Samsung Galaxy S5? Display The Samsung Galaxy S5 is often touted as the best all-around display among any smartphone currently on the market. It’s 5.1 inches in diameter and boasts 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. Surprisingly, however, the LG G3 has managed to trump the Galaxy S5’s display, as it features a 5.5-inch screen with quad-HD 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. I’m a huge fan of the Samsung Galaxy S5, but I have to name the LG G3 as the winner for display. Processor Now let’s talk about what really matters in a smartphone: the processing power. Both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and LG G3 are powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor running at 2.5GHz. There were rumors that LG would use an upgraded version of the Qualcomm processor — the 805 — but they ultimately chose the safe route by using the 801. So,…

GalaxyS5 , Images , News , smart phones / December 28, 2013

Will Galaxy S5 Display be Flat or Curved? In our last few posts, we talked about a potential release date for the Galaxy S5, noting that it is likely to be announced at the February, 2014 press event that Samsung has scheduled to take the day before the Mobile World Congress is scheduled to open to show off its own Tizen mobile OS. Galaxy S5 Display in Production Already?
