Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Galaxy Grand Prime
Galaxy S6 , GalaxyS5 , smart phones / December 4, 2014

Samsung is known for producing multiple variants of its flagship smartphone, one of the latest being the Galaxy Grand Prime. Based on its name alone, you might assume this is a beefed-up version of the Galaxy S5, featuring better hardware components and other attractive features. Before you make a hastily decision and choose this variant over the original Galaxy S5, however, you should read our comparison of the two devices below. Display The original Galaxy S5 features a brilliant 5-inch Super AMOLED, which delivers incredible images when watching videos, playing games, or engaging in other media-related activities. Samsung opted for a slightly larger 5.1-inch display with the Galaxy Grand Prime; however, it also features less colors (16 million), along with a lower resolution (540 x 960 pixel). This doesn’t necessarily mean the Galaxy Grand Prime delivers poor image quality, but there’s a noticeable difference between it and the original Galaxy S5. Processor The Galaxy S5 features a blazing-fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974-AC processor clocked at 2500 MHz. The Galaxy Grand Prime features an older, slower Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor. RAM If you’re the type of person who’s constantly running multiple apps at once, you’ll probably want to stick with the…

Oops! Did Samsung Accidentally Reveal Galaxy S5 Plus?
GalaxyS5 , smart phones / October 21, 2014

Samsung is reportedly planning to release a new version of its flagship smartphone, equipped with a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. So, how did we obtain this information? Samsung usually does a pretty good job at keeping quiet, but the company published a listing for a “Galaxy S5 Plus” on its Netherlands website earlier this week. According to NDTV.com, this device is actually the European version of the Galaxy S5 4G+ It features the same specs as the European Galaxy S5 4G+, but it’s listed under a different name. And to further confirm this theory, both the Galaxy S5 Plus and European Galaxy S5 4G+ feature the model number SM-G901F. Regardless as to whether or not it’s the European Galaxy S5 4G+, it still boasts some impressive specs. Samsung opted for an 801 chipset in the original Galaxy S5 that featured a a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor. At the time, this was arguably the fastest smartphone processor on the market (it’s still one of the fastest). The Galaxy S5 Plus, on the other hand, is powered by the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 2.5GHz quad-core processor. The 805 chipset also introduces a new generation Adreno 420 GPU, which is a…

How To Speed up Your Samsung Galaxy S5
GalaxyS5 , smart phones , Tips Corner / September 29, 2014

The Galaxy S5 is arguably one of the best all-around smartphones currently on the market. Its quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 2 GB RAM offers blazing-fast speeds that trump similar-priced mobile devices. Of course, this is probably why Samsung has already sold 10 million units worldwide. But what if the current Galaxy S5 speeds aren’t enough to meet your particular needs? Thankfully, there are several steps owners can take to speed up their Galaxy S5 device, one of which is to disable the lock screen animation. Ever notice the rippling water that displays on the Galaxy S5 each time you unlock it? Although visually appealing, these animations consume both memory and processing power, which could be used for other more important tasks. To disable the lock screen animation, access Settings > Lock Screen > Unlock effect > and tap the button labeled “none.” You can also speed up your Galaxy S5 by disabling unwanted and/or unused apps. The truth is that most people have far more apps installed on their device than they actually use. Some of these apps will continue to hog valuable system resources even they aren’t being used.  To disable apps, tap the app drawer…

Samsung Announces Galaxy S5 Active For Canadian Residents
GalaxyS5 , News , smart phones / September 15, 2014

Samsung today announced the release of the Galaxy S5 Active to Canadian markets. Up until now, none of the cell carriers in Canada have supported the Galaxy S5 Active. Starting today, however, it will launch on multiple cell carriers. It’s important to note that this isn’t Samsung’s launch-edition flagship smartphone. Instead, it’s the Active variant. The Galaxy S5 Active is designed specifically for active, on-the-go individuals, which is apparent from its rugged body. Both the launch-edition and Galaxy S5 Active feature a 5.1-inch 1080p Gorilla Glass display with Super AMOLED technology, but the Active contains a durable rubber body shell to protect it from damage. Another feature included in the Galaxy S5 Active is Locqus Field Service. This new feature is designed to streamline the jobs of contractors, electricians and general service providers by offering an all-in-one management platform. With Locqus Field Service, you can schedule jobs, dispatch technicians, track employee locations and more. Other than the rugged body design and a few new software tools like Locqus Field Service, however, the Galaxy S5 Active is pretty much the same as the launch-edition Galaxy S5. Both devices have identical under-the-hood specs, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM and a…

GalaxyS5 , News , smart phones / July 17, 2014

It’s no secret that Samsung is busy working on variation of its Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone, some of which includes the Galaxy F (Prime), Galaxy S5 Active, Galaxy S5 Mini and Galaxy S5 Zoom. While most consumers and tech analysts were expecting these variations to be released, recent developments suggest another variation of the Galaxy is on the horizon: the Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo. GSM Arena published a screenshot of a benchmark listing depicting an unknown device with the build SM-G850. While there’s been no official confirmation by Samsung, this device is believed to be the company’s upcoming Galaxy S5 Neo. The benchmark listing reveals some pretty interesting information about the hardware and software specs of the SM-G850 device (click on link above for complete details). Assuming this is the Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo, it will feature a 4.7-inch screen with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and 5-finger gesture support.  If you’re familiar with the original launch-edition Galaxy S5, you’ll probably notice these specs are sub-par in comparison. The Galaxy  S5 Neo is intended to be a smaller and cheaper version of the original Galaxy S5, allowing budget-conscious…

Galaxy F (Prime) Spotted In Leaked Photo
GalaxyS5 , News , smart phones / July 15, 2014

Thanks to our favorite smartphone industry news leaker @evleaks, we now have a sneak peak at Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy F (also known as the Prime variant). We’ve mentioned this device on numerous occasions here on blog, discussing some of its possible features and specifications. While Samsung has yet to confirm the existence of the Galaxy F, we knew it was coming given the company’s similar variants with the Galaxy S4. Evleaks tweeted the Galaxy F photo on July 2, along with the caption: “Samsung Galaxy F, in crystal clear, 2014.” This immediately triggered a response from the smartphone community, with some Twitter users asking questions like “I just noticed that i dont see a front camera?” and “so its different from s5 prime?” These are both frequently asked questions regarding the Galaxy F, so we’ll do our best to answer them. We’re assuming the front-facing camera is one of the small circular devices at the top. Being that the front-facing camera is considered a “secondary” camera, it will feature a lower resolution than the rear-facing “primary” camera. And the Galaxy F is the same as the Prime. Samsung is reportedly marketing it under the “Galaxy F” name — reasons for which we…

Comparing The Galaxy S5 vs The Galaxy S5 Prime
GalaxyS5 , smart phones / June 30, 2014

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime (dubbed the Galaxy F) is gearing up to be South Korean tech company’s biggest and baddest smartphone yet. Of course, this should come as no surprise considering it’s the “premium” variant of the Galaxy S5. But how exactly does it stand out from the launch-edition Galaxy S5? Samsung has kept their lips sealed regarding details and specs of the Galaxy S5 Prime. However, numerous websites have reported a launch date of mid-to-late June. With June wrapping up, though, it’s highly unlikely we’ll see Samsung’s new Prime variant on the market before July rolls around. Body According to leaked details, the upcoming Galaxy S5 Prime will sport an aluminum body instead of the launch-edition’s all-plastic body. This alone is a huge advantage that’s sure to attract some consumers to the new variant. While the Galaxy S5 remains one of the hottest smartphones to date, some users criticized Samsung for using plastic in its body. Opting for an aluminum body — featuring the same perforated rear design — will likely result in a smartphone that’s looks and feels like a higher quality device. Display Another key selling point of the Galaxy S5 Prime is its display. According…
